A little nibble, a little dribble

It's true, one of the true joys of parenting is watching your baby 'eat' food for the first time. We've been feeding her cereal and pureed foods for 2 months now, and we still love to watch her face as she tries something for the first time. Last week, while we were visiting friends in Munich I gave her a little bite of German potato salad, which contained some vinegar (i know, not the best thing to give a 7-month-old but, I swear, every time we go out to eat she's got her mouth open like a hungry little bird. I can't resist.) The look of her face after one bite was priceless - kinda like a nun drinking a shot of tequila for the first time.

I posted one of my favorite videos of her eating on you tube. You've got to check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmefyH4hnQk

Adela eats potato salad for the first time.

Is this really what you people eat?

Harald, Mike's buddy from HBS, gives Adela some fine German beer to wash it down. (Just kidding - it's only apple spritzer).

Fun, fun, fun till Daddy took her Exersaucer away

The Excersaucer is by far the greatest invention in infant entertainment. We bought this sucker for $90 back in the States - Mike was mildly pissed that we had to give up one of checked luggage pieces for it - but we soon discovered it is like crack-cocaine for a 6-month-old baby who's been lying on her back since birth. Even when I put her on the floor to play with her other toys, she drags herself towards it and bangs on the base. I have to put her in it at least 3x a day, which is nice because it gives me a solid 20 minutes to get some housework done (or drink my coffee and watch CNN).

Adela puts the smack down on her new toy.

Worth every penny for a smile like that.

Hanging out with the Fam

This is way overdue, but you know how I am. (And you love me anyway!!)

After all the years of 'subtle' pressure, Mom finally becomes Grandma and couldn't be happier. Except, of course, if she had two grandchildren. As usual, Adela can't resist the camera.

This is one of my all-time favorites. It captures such joy and love. Adela is lucky to have such a cool aunt.
